Erlanger Kentucky Restaurants
While everyone in Kentucky does their best to stock up on what everyone eats at home, local restaurants are struggling to find ways to continue feeding their customers. They optimize their carryout systems and find out what works best for them and their customers.
One of the things that caught my eye was something called Goetta, which is served at Colonial Cottage. German settlers brought it to the Cincinnati area in the 19th century, and it was originally a farm dish designed for meat production and goes back far into the old lands. It consists of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, beef and pork (the people of Cincinnati will argue over the exact ratio of beef to pork). It is pronounced like "get" and is mainly found in and around the Cinnati area.
The breakfast page was the last on the menu and we were there for breakfast, so I thought I was just getting some eggs, bacon and toast. I had been late the night before and was so hungry, but the pancake was so much better than the dollar pancake - the size you find in other restaurants. The pile of real potatoes and hash browns was huge and they put a lot of cheese on top.
I had a lot of protein on my plate and wondered if they would give me scrambled eggs, so I asked the young lady in the hotel where I could find any. Big Bone Lick was the perfect place to get it, and I could find a perfect piece to take home as a souvenir from my visit to Bigbone Licks.
At the entrance of the campsite you have a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape and the Big Bone Licks. It is ideal for a family outing and it is a great place to do some excursions in the park.
The interpretative panel provides a unique perspective on the unfolding prehistoric drama of the Big Bone Licks and Kentucky history.
Large herds of bison once roamed the area, providing food, clothing and shelter to American Indians and pioneers. The bison herd is now the only living mammal link between the Big Bone Licks and Kentucky's past. They are reminiscent of the park's prehistoric past and are now the largest living mammal herd of its kind in the United States. I encourage you to plan a visit to BigBone Lick to see the unique history of the state, its people, animals and its history.
